You Don’t Need Confidence to Do a Boudoir Shoot (You get that HERE!)

By Bri, The Velvet Cowgirl

“I’d love to do a boudoir shoot, I just need to feel more confident first.” If I had a dollar for every woman who has said some version of this to me, I’d probably have enough rhinestones to cover my entire studio. Here’s what I want you to know: you do not need confidence to book a boudoir session. You don’t need to lose weight first, know how to pose, feel comfortable in lingerie, or suddenly love every inch of your body. Most of the women you see absolutely owning it in their boudoir photos didn’t walk into the studio feeling fearless. They were nervous, awkward, excited, and maybe even wondering what they had gotten themselves into. They simply showed up anyway.

You’re not supposed to know what you’re doing in front of the camera. That’s my job. I guide you through everything, from where to put your hands and how to position your body to where to look and what to do with your face. At The Velvet Cowgirl, your experience includes professional hair and makeup, access to our client closet in sizes XS to 6X, expert posing, and guidance throughout your entire session. You don’t have to change your body before you’re worthy of being photographed. Not after you lose 20 pounds, not when you feel better about your stomach, and not someday when you finally feel “ready.” Your body, exactly as it is today, deserves to be celebrated.

Maybe confidence isn’t something you need before you book. Maybe booking the session is how you find it. There’s something incredibly powerful about stepping outside your comfort zone, seeing your photos, and realizing, “Holy shit, that’s ME.” The woman in those photographs isn’t a different version of you. She was there all along. So bring the nerves, the insecurities, and the body you have today. You don’t need to become more confident before you walk through my doors. You just need to decide you’re worth walking through them.

XOXO, The Velvet Cowgirl
